Mais uma adaptação de ringflash

(2007-10-04) For all of you coming from the modelmayhem forum post, I decided to translate this post. Thanks for stopping by and I hope this helps understand what's written :D

"After reading the comments on the ringflash post on Strobist, I noticed that blogger Gary mentioned a comercial version of the adaptation. It's distributed by Flaghead in the UK, and it ain't cheap. The ring is pretty big (it has an interior diameter of about 15cm) and it uses a flash on the camera hotshoe, redirecting the light through mirrors and prisms.

Is it worth the 200€ it costs? hmm.. not sure. As a fill flash, it works well, and you get the ringflash look. But as a unique light source, you quickly notice the directionality of the light, due to the higher concentration of light on the top of the ring. If you look at the sample pic, the model's shadow isn't the same around her as on a true ringlfash. You get more shadow on the right hand side and almost none on the left. It's the comon problem with this type of adaptation. True ring lights have circular flash lamps which leads to a uniformly lit ring while these adaptations always have more light on one end of the ring. I stil believe two light sources are needed to get a better distribution."

That's what was written in the post. When I mention 2 lightsources, I mean two flashes on oposite ends of the ring. Also the light should be directed to bounce as eficiently as possible within the ring, to distribute the light as well as possible. It's something I have been thinking of doing with my Metz flashes. The flashes would be triggered remotely, but I still haven't figured out a way to build it eficiently and nicely, as to also support the flashes. Before that I think I'm gonna build one with fluorescent rings (one baking dish and two circular florescent tubes (one larger diameter and one smaller diameter). Other than that I have one big ringlight built so far.
